Holy, Holy, Holy

Clifton H. Payne, Jr

In the Bible God is called Holy, Holy, Holy. There are no punctuation marks in the ancient scriptures, so to emphasize something you repeat it twice and to give it the most emphasis you repeat it three times. So, God is the most holy. We normally think of the connotation of the word holy as pure and undefiled but the actual denotation of the word means separate, unique, and different. God is unlike anything. He is different and unique and His creation bears the fingerprint of its creator. No two people or things are exactly alike. We are all different and unique. This means each one of us is special and there is not another one exactly like us and each one of us has differing abilities and disabilities that enable each of us to do something that no one else can. We each have a special place in God’s universe. Although we all have many faults, disabilities and limitations, we also each have that special uniqueness that allows us to do something and to contribute something that no one else can. All of this is because we are created in the image of God. We each have a divine potential and each of us are equally valuable in the eyes of God. So, be thankful for who you are as there is not another you and go fulfill your unique divine potential and know that God loves you.
